Fishing in the Mecklenburg Lake District – tips and requirements
To fish in the Mecklenburg Lake District, a valid fishing license and a fishing permit for the specific body of water are required. Those without a fishing license can obtain a temporary tourist fishing license from the tourist information office. Special regulations apply to children up to and including the age of 14.
Tourist fishing license
You can purchase the tourist fishing license at the tourist information offices in Wesenberg (+49(0)39832/20621) and Mirow (+49(0)39833/269950). It is valid for 28 consecutive days.
Fishing permit
You can purchase a fishing permit, for example, from the local fisherman in Ahrensberg, Wesenberg, Canow, and Mirow, or at the Havelperle campsite adjacent to Kanatu. The conditions on the fishing permit must be read and adhered to before fishing, as must the provisions of the fisheries law and regulations.
Cost of the fishing permit (per person)

- Weekly ticket (valid for 7 days) €38.00
- Day ticket (valid for 24 hours) €13.00
- Discount for young people up to 16 years of age: 50%
- Weekly ticket for children up to 10 years old with a coarse fishing rod €7.00

Fishing with children up to the age of 14
If you have children up to the age of 14 with you while fishing, they can fish without their own fishing license but with their own fishing permit. Children may fish under your supervision within the scope of your documents, subject to the restrictions therein, provided you keep an eye on the child and ensure compliance with fishing regulations, as well as nature and animal protection laws.
